Three Things That Might Happen to You During Pregnancy
Pica
Pica is an interesting symptom of pregnancy that not many women know about going into it. The craving for something delicious or some other type of food is well known thanks to the television and movies, but pica is a symptom that is the exact opposite. Pica is a symptom whereby the woman gets cravings for items that are not edible in the slightest. Examples include dirt and clay and even something like a rock can be the object of a craving if the woman is experiencing pica. It is a strange craving, but not one that all women get. In order to deal with the craving, the most common treatment is ice chips. They will allow the patient to chew on something hard, which can help alleviate some of the pica cravings.
Increased Urination
Increased urination during pregnancy occurs because of the confluence of a number of different factors. The increased intake of fluid that women do during pregnancy is a contributing factor. The changing of some of the body’s physiology during pregnancy is another one. Finally, the compression of the bladder during the later stages of pregnancy is one more reason why this type of symptom might come about. Most of the time, pregnant women experience increased urination as a result of these causes, but every now and then it is because of a urinary tract infection. Therefore, tell your doctor about the symptom if it materializes and they will conduct a urinalysis to make sure that it is just symptomatic of your pregnancy and not indicative of any particular infection.
Hemorroids
Hemorroids are another problem that is common to pregnancy. They are caused by a lack of the B vitamin complex and pregnancy especially in the later stages causes your body more stress which burns up B vitamins. Neglected, hemorroids can be very painful sometimes in chronic case requiring surgery to remove and then, they REALLY HURT! Take care of them now and avoid a whole lot of pain later!
